Why Race?

All types of racing, but especially drag racing, is highly popular all over the world. It allows people of all sizes to compete for a top prize. You do not have to be the best athlete around to compete, and this is part of its appeal. Most racers come from backgrounds that support great racing. They line up for the chance to beat heroes of years past. However, there is no denying the fact that racing in any form, is quite dangerous. Many people die each year doing the sport that they love. One of the more highly publicized deaths occurred recently when NASCAR great Tony Stewart accidentally ran over a competitor during a dirt track race.

One of the main reasons why people choose to race is to have fun. Racing provides an adrenaline rush. There is nothing in the world like getting behind the wheel of a high-powered machine and racing another person. Another part of the thrill is building the car. Racers take pride in beating opponents with cars that they built from scratch. It is a reflection of mechanical skill and engineering that sets many people apart from the rest of the pack. Nobody does it better than the most skilled mechanics in the business, and other opportunities wait for those who excel.

Racing is widely regarded as a great family activity. Families love to go to local dirt track races, as well as drag races. A major draw to racing is that it does not cost nearly as much as standard auto racing. Some tickets for standard races cost hundreds of dollars. This makes it nearly impossible to get a ticket during tough economic times. Local races only charge $10.00-$20.00 for tickets, however. This means that the working man can go to a race, drink beer, and watch the kids have fun without ruining his bank account in the process.

The drive for money and fame is another reason why you should race. Although it is hard to make a living from racing alone, there are a few who carve out their niche. It takes a willingness to do what it takes to win consistently in order to reach star status in the sport. However, when you do, sponsorships come rolling in. Sponsors in outdoor sports and auto parts often support the best racers. They get a payment each time they win races while sporting a sponsorship’s advertisements on uniforms and cars. This makes it a huge draw for people who love to control how much money they can ear annually.

A simple strong desire to compete is another major factor inside the world of racing. Some people are just naturally competitive, and this makes racing cars ideal for them. They take care to practice, and they put money into their cars to make them faster. If you want to compete, then you must be willing to put money into the sport that you love to see positive results.
